PETLAS TIRE CORP. RUN FLAT TIRES

After years of research and development, Petlas Tire Corp. has introduced first Run-Flat tires at the 3rd Quarter of 2014.

Currently available Petlas RFT sizes are 195/55 R16, 205/55 R16, 225/55 ZR17, 205/50 ZR17, 225/50 ZR17, 225/45 ZR17, 245/50 RF18, 225/45 ZR18, 245/45 ZR18, 245/40 ZR18, 245/45 ZR19, 245/40 ZR19, 255/35 ZR19, 255/50 ZR19, and 255/50 R19. You can find these sizes in PCR and SUV-4x4 ranges. Petlas Tire Corp. is also continuing its infrastructural works to implement Run Flat technology into its Military Purpose tires.

The feedbacks from customers have been very positive and Petlas Tire Corp. will be expanding its run flat tire portfolio with new sizes in the very near future.

New additions will be 245/50 R18, 275/45 R18, 215/40 R18, 225/40 R18, 225/40 R19, 245/40 R20, 255/40 R18, 275/40 R18, 225/35 R19, 225/35 R20, 245/35 R18, 245/35 R19, 245/35 R20, 255/35 R18, 275/35 R18, 275/35 R19, 275/35 R20, 285/35 R18, 285/35 R19, 245/30 R19, 255/30 R20, 285/30 R19, 285/30 R20.

A run-flat tire is pneumatic tire that has the capability of resisting the effects of deflation when punctured. When a run-flat tire is punctured and loses its pressure, it can continue supporting the vehicle with its reinforced sidewalls.

Resisting deflation helps driver keep control of the vehicle in case of a sudden burst. This is the safety advantage of a run flat tire.

In recent years, as a result of the definition of some regulatory institutions a new term was born: Extended Mobility Tires. What is difference between a Run-Flat Tire and Extended Mobility Tire? ECE R-30 regulation states that a Run Flat Tire has to run total distance of 80km on indoor drum test with ‘0’ inflation pressure. However, Extended Mobility Tire cannot run 80km but it ensures steering balance in case of a sudden blow-out. In this regard, Petlas Run-Flat tires are certified as ‘Run Flat’ according to ECE R-30. On outdoor tests, Petlas Run-Flat tires have reached the distance up to 200 km without any integrity problems.
